How To Get Your First 100 Sales on RedBubble

Everyone is trying to make money online at the moment, so many things to do, so little time. It’s a big, bad world out there, only the strong will survive! I don’t want to brag but I’m a RedBubble badass! If you don’t know what RedBubble is then you must have been hiding under a rock for the past few years! Yep!

RedBubble is essentially a print-on-demand platform. You upload your designs and when customers purchase an item, they print your design on the product and send it out to the customer.

For example, t-shirts, caps, mugs, and notebooks. Take a look at the screenshot below above.

Anyway, if you are just starting out on RedBubble, you are probably pulling your hair out trying to figure out how to actually get your first few sales on the platform. It’s just like any new venture, patience is key. You might get an overall viral hit but it’s unlikely. To get your first ten sales, you need to put in a little legwork.

Here are some actionable tips to help you get your first ten sales on RedBubble:

1) Niche Down
If you have just started out and you are thinking about making your RedBubble page a general page with a million different things on there, stop! Think of your RedBubble store as a niche blog. Niche right down and focus on a specific target group.

Don’t just focus on creating general designs for your RedBubble store, get specific. For example, girl gamers.

You could just go for gaming enthusiasts but girl gamers are more specific.

When you target a specific demographic, it’s much easier to market your products.

2) Get Your Tags Right
RedBubble is a search engine all on its own and Google is also your best friend when it comes to RedBubble.

People search for products within the RedBubble site and they search on Google therefore, it’s vital that you get your tags right.

Let’s take the girl gamers example again, instead of just tagging your products “Gaming” add tags like:

“Gifts for girl gamers”

“Girl gamer gifts”

“Girl gamer mugs”

Girl gamer stickers”

“Girl gamer t-shirts”

You get the picture right?

Get the tags right!

3)Pile it High
Years ago, I hosted an event called “Hustling Music” and no one turned up. There were probably about 20 people in the whole venue, I was mortified! In fact, I wanted to hide away in a very dark hole never to be seen again! A very kind security guard gave me some advice, he said:

“You need to pile it high. You can’t just do one event and expect people to flood the place. Unless you already have a massive following, no one is gonna turn up. You need to keep hosting events, keep doing it until everyone knows about it, stack it up.”

The words “pile it high” stuck with me and I will never forget them.

If you want to make it on RedBubble or any other platform for that matter, you need to pile it high. Keep uploading designs, don’t start with one design and hope for millions in the bank within a couple of weeks, it doesn’t work like that. Upload 20, 30, 40 designs. The more you upload the better!

Obviously, you need to make sure that the designs are good. Don’t just throw a whole bunch of random crappy designs up and expect people to love them. Take your time and get the designs right.

If you are not much of a designer, you can pay someone on Fiverr to get it done for you, just get those designs done!

5)Buy Your Products
Buy two or three items from your own store. There is a reason for this, once you have your own items in hand, you can promote them on your socials. It will also make an impact on your sales figures which is certainly not a bad thing.

6) Promote on TikTok, Pinterest, and Instagram Reels
If you want to become a RedBubble badass like me, you need to go all out. I mean it! Promote your products on TikTok, Pinterest, and Instagram Reels. These are the best places to promote your products at this point. Make different pages for different niches if you have multiple RedBubble stores.

If you are selling products for girl gamers, make a page that showcases cool girl gamer setups and other cool girl gamer stuff. Every few posts, showcase your products.

For example:

You don’t have to make new content for all the pages, repost the same content on Pinterest and Instagram.

Make sure you add your RedBubble link to your bio.

7)Influencer Marketing
If you have the funds, dive deep into influencer marketing. Spend time searching on Instagram for influencers that might fit your target market. Contact them via dm and ask for their rate card. Make sure you check their content engagement because some pages have fake followers, be mindful of this!

You can also check Instagram theme pages, they are much cheaper and sometimes they yield some great results.

8)Facebook Groups
Join Facebook groups. Don’t just spam a whole bunch of groups, be strategic. Join groups that match your target demographic. Join the conversation and post links where necessary.

9) Create a blog
Create a blog about your specific niche. You don’t have to create a WordPress blog or anything like that, you can use Medium or any other free social blogging platform.

If your products are geared towards students, create content about study tips, productivity, and other topics that students might be interested in. Build an email list and market your products through the list.

10) Host a Giveaway
If you don’t have a large following on social media, you can host a giveaway with someone who does. Offer your products to an influencer that already has a large following and host a giveaway to boost brand awareness and to get more eyes on your page.

11. Let Your Creativity Flow
Don’t hold back, let it flow. Create from the heart, love what you do, and feel it from the soul. That’s my final tip! Now, go and create something wonderful!

I hope you found these tips helpful. They certainly helped me when I first started on RedBubble! Just keep going, you will get there if you follow these tips and remain consistent.
